In addition, lesbians are further discriminated against because they do not have spaces to meet and exchange, are not taken into consideration in general programs for LGBTQ people in Senegal, and most importantly, are excluded by women\u2019s rights organizations.<\/p>\n<p>To this day, <em>Sourire de Femme<\/em> is the only LBQWSW organization in Senegal and is present in every region of the country.<\/p>\n<p>A ce jour, Sourire de Femme est la seule association identitaire de femmes LBQFSF au S\u00e9n\u00e9gal et pr\u00e9sente dans toutes les r\u00e9gions du S\u00e9n\u00e9gal.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>OUR VISION<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; down=&#8221;15&#8243;][vc_column_text]We want a world where human rights are respected without <em>if<\/em> or <em>but<\/em>. [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>OUR MISSION<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; down=&#8221;15&#8243;][vc_column_text]Our mission is based on a commitment to feminism, social change, and fight against all forms of discrimination and exploitation of the LBQWSW community.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>OUR CHALLENGES<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; down=&#8221;15&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve the level and quality of education of LBTQI populations<\/li>\n<li>Decrease gender-based violence (GBV) at the community, family, academic and organizational level<\/li>\n<li>Documents the lives of LBT women in Senegal<\/li>\n<li>Maintain a database on violence and rights violations as related to OSIG<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>OUR MAIN ACTIVITIES<\/h3>\n<p>Since its creation in 2010, <em>Sourire de Femme <\/em>is involved in the following activities:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Health and wellbeing of LGBTQ populations<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Referral and psychological counseling<\/li>\n<li>Themed dialogues with LBQWSW groups<\/li>\n<li>Specialized medical consultations<\/li>\n<li>Raising awareness on preventable diseases<\/li>\n<li>Distribution of condoms, femidoms, lubes and instruction manuals<\/li>\n<li>Visits in freedom-restricted areas<\/li>\n<li>Legal support<\/li>\n<li>Academic support<\/li>\n<li>Recreational outings and soccer games<\/li>\n<li>Emergency intervention in case of arrest of LGBTQI people in Senegal and The Gambia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Human Rights<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advocate in favor of LBTQI people in spaces of dialogue with social justice actors<\/li>\n<li>Compile and update the database with cases of violence and human rights violation in order to support our advocacy<\/li>\n<li>Train lawyers, paralegals, religious and traditional chiefs as well as LBTQI people on the human rights of LGBTQ people in Senegal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Communication &amp; Visibility<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in radio shows to talk about LGBTQ issues in Senegal<\/li>\n<li>Articles on LGBTQ issues published in the local press<\/li>\n<li>Participate in local feminist marches[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>OUR ACHIEVEMENTS<\/h3>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=&#8221;transparent&#8221; down=&#8221;15&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p>After several years of existence, the few achievements we have made have consolidated our vision and mission to promote and protect the human rights of LGBTQ people, particularly LBTWSW in Senegal.
