Advocacy

Our goal is to ensure that those most affected by the issues can collectively develop the political vocabulary, conceptual tools and strategic actions to advocate for and lead social transformation

Working from the premise that large-scale social change comes from coordinated collective efforts more than from the isolated actions of individuals or single organizations, QAYN creates processes and methods for cross-boundary collaboration among LGBTQ leaders, groups and organizations, and individuals working on social justice issues in our sub-region. Our goal is to ensure that those most affected by the issues can collectively develop the political vocabulary, conceptual tools and strategic actions to advocate for and lead social transformation.

Our advocacy initiative combines the following approaches:

  • Campaigning through direct actions to challenge dominant narratives and provoke new conversations that interrogate the social, political, cultural and economic dynamics governing our lives
  • Convening to promote broad participation and the emergence of more rounded perspectives to inform our collective visions of liberation, agenda setting and methods of action so that young activists are able to effectively engage with and drive the decisions that shape their lives at the national, regional and international levels
  • Research and documentation to inform and influence decision-making
  • Advocacy and support for access to spaces and resource for emerging lesbian, trans* and gender non-confirming activists.
